Thanks to continued support from the Clas Ohlson Foundation, Plan International has in 2024 been able to give more children in north-eastern Nigeria the opportunity to go to school – in an area where violence, poverty and climate change threaten children’s right to education.

With the foundation’s support, among other things:

111 children with disabilities have received medical assessments – 17 have received assistive devices such as glasses, hearing aids and wheelchairs.
240 teachers trained in safe and inclusive pedagogy
24 schools received new teaching materials in maths, science and technology
24 schools equipped with play and sports materials to increase attendance and social cohesion.
215 teenage girls received hygiene kits that improved their school attendance and self-confidence.

Since 2020, the Clas Ohlson Foundation has supported children in crisis-affected areas through long-term education programmes. A child’s education is not only crucial for the individual’s future – it strengthens the whole community.

– We believe in the power of education and want to make a difference where the needs are greatest. Through our partnership with Plan International, we are not only contributing to better schooling for thousands of children – we are also promoting security, inclusion and hope in one of the world’s most vulnerable regions,’ says Dimitri Haid, Chairman of the Board of the Clas Ohlson Foundation.

Education is not only a human right but also the basis for a sustainable future. It breaks poverty, strengthens equality and creates future opportunities. Investing in children’s education is not only an investment in the child’s future, but in the reconstruction of entire societies and a sustainable world.

– Thanks to the Clas Ohlson Foundation’s determined support, we have been able to scale up our efforts for education in one of the world’s most vulnerable regions. Their long-term commitment to children’s rights makes a real difference – not just for each individual child who returns to school, but for entire communities. The partnership with Clas Ohlson Foundation is a clear demonstration of how business and civil society together can contribute to a more just and sustainable world,’ says Nathalie Piehl, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Plan International Sweden.
