Following the recent devastating earthquake in Myanmar, the Clas Ohlson Foundation has decided to donate funds to contribute to the emergency relief efforts. The earthquake has caused widespread destruction and left thousands of families in urgent need of support. More than 1.6 million people are displaced in the centre and north-west of the country – the worst affected areas.
Many have lost their homes, loved ones and entire communities are struggling to recover from the disaster. To help in this difficult situation, the Clas Ohlson Foundation is supporting UNHCR’s work in the region. UNHCR has been on the ground in Myanmar for over 30 years and is now working intensively to scale up its efforts to meet the enormous humanitarian needs.
– We feel a deep responsibility to act when people are affected as badly as now. Through our support to UNHCR, we want to contribute to providing vital help to those who need it most,” says Dimitri Haid, Chairman of the Clas Ohlson Foundation.
